On Wednesday the pipe finally arrived at the depot here in Edinburgh and I picked it up.

As for the pipe itself, it is absolutely stunning! The shape and proportions are simply perfect and the finish is superb.

I’ve just had some quiet time to try it out too and, especially for a first fill, it smoked very, very nicely. The bowl size is just about right for me and with a coin of Navy Cut straight out of the tin, it gave a dry and cool smoke – very enjoyable.

Getting a morta pipe was definitely a highly recommendable idea. Even more so if this pipe is made by Mr Nagata, whose craftsmanship I cannot praise highly enough.
