If you follow Mr. Tajima’s work you will notice many of his particular features that he utilizes in his pipes.

The Yakushima Sitter encapsulates all the iconic attributes that Mr. Tajima is known for using.

As depicted with Mr. Tajima’s first name TATSU ( meaning to stand ) all of Mr Tajima’s pipes are balanced upright.  The Yakushima Sitter has a wide elephant foot base that will ensure a confident stability when placing the pipe on any surface.

The bottom of the pipe is evenly rusticated and terraced giving the user a comfortable ergonomic feeling when holding the pipe. The base is painted with Mr. Tajima’s proprietary kaleidoscopic coloring.

The crowning point of  this work  is the huge rim. The wide circumference greets you with contrasting texture and color. The entire smooth plateau is generously covered in tight Birdseye grain.  The left edge of the rim has a chipped appearance and is accented with gold leaf.

The pipe has an earthy yet sophisticated quality that you will only find from Mr. Tajima.
